As I kept running, I looked back, and there he was, just standing still like a giant cherry popsicle, frozen in time. But I continued going full speed, because I knew the hot dog guy had the answers. I chased him all the way into the subway station, way on the other side of the Circle. And then, seconds later, Lumpy appeared.
He was all panicked, telling me we had to split because the Suits were coming. And all I could think was...no way. Lumpy was a really good lacrosse player with mad skill and awesome moves and all that, but when they were handing out speed at the athlete store, he was at the back of the line.
The only way he could have appeared just a few seconds behind me was if he was moving at light speed. Somehow, he must have figured out how to use the app. So as we stood on the subway platform, it didn’t take much for Lumpy to convince me that we had to run. I could see the fear in his eyes. He knew the Suits were coming to get us and we had to get on the train. With just seconds to spare, we managed to escape the Suits who just missed the closing doors. SLAM!! One of them made a face plant right into the subway door as it closed...awesome!
So there we were, speeding to the next subway stop, without a plan. We sat there in silence for a bit and the sway of the train back and forth got me to thinking about how much I missed the subway.
