“Pipe down, Joe! Our mission is to find those two boys, get the Ching, and transport ourselves back home . . . even though we have no way to power the Ching. So no, Joe, I don’t think ‘great’ is the right word for the situation we’re in.”
“Don’t worry, Chief,” Joe said, puffing out his chest. “We’ll make sure those guys never catch us.”
Chief was afraid to ask but he did anyway. “OK, and how are we going to do that?”
“By doing the opposite of what they think we’re going to do, of course!”
“Huh?” Joe pointed to his right. In the distance some soft lights glowed in the sky. “They think we’re going to follow this fence out of the woods to whatever street is lighted up over there. Instead, we’ll go right through it!”
“Right through what? The fence?” Chief rubbed his temples. He felt a headache coming on. “That’s just plain ridiculous, Joe. How are we going to do that?”
Joe reached into his pocket and pulled out what looked like a small, handheld phone charger.
