When I was done explaining things to Gina, she thought for a minute and said, "It sounds like Stevie figured something out and didn't want anyone else but you guys to know. That's why he got rid of his phone. I'm guessing that if you went to Central Park and looked around, you might see something Stevie saw."
"Like what?" I asked. "A pig selling umbrellas on a scooter?" Now that was funny.
Gina thought so, too. "You have quite an imagination, kiddo. Take a ride on the train into New York, then take a subway across to Columbus Circle. You guys only have a few days left of summer, and it would be a great day. Go tomorrow after I head out to Quinnipiac!"
Bones slumped at Gina's reminder and I got an empty feeling in my stomach. He looked up and asked, "Where's Columbus Circle?"
Gina borrowed Bones' phone and zoomed in on the stationary blue dot. "It's right where your blue dot is located. There's an entrance to the southwest corner of the park, and you can walk right down to the zoo."
It sounded like a great plan—until you added in the Estelle Factor, which put the chances of us going at next to nothing. Gina was leaving for college tomorrow with my dad, so Bones and I would be left fending for ourselves.
But Gina was right. We had to check it out, even if that meant going on another stealth mission.
