"Sorry Estelle, I was looking for my hat and . . ." "You're wearing your hat, CJ!"

I put my hand on my head. Rats. I picked up my phone and started texting Bones.
"CJ, please stop with that and make a plan to do something today other than play video games. When I was your age . . ."

Oh God, here comes the "run around outside and play in the grass" speech.

"We would run around outside all day and play in the grass!"

"Sounds like you were a bunch of cows!" Uh-oh, was I using my inside voice? I better not have said that out loud.

"Are you calling me a cow?!"

Yup, definitely said it out loud.

"I'll have you know that I work out three hours a day." She told me every day that she worked out three hours a day. Estelle was . . . well, let's just say her favorite show was "Housewives of New Jersey." I don't think I had ever seen her wear anything other than yoga pants. Gina, my older sister, called her my dad's midlife crisis. I just called her Estelle.

I looked at my phone and saw another text from Bones. "I'm making plans with Bones right now . . . outside plans, of course."

"This early? Well, take the trash out and don't let me see you inside today. I cleaned all day yesterday."

I never understood how when two maids came in twice a week and cleaned the entire house, she got to take credit for it.
