He was frantic, but I had no time to explain anything. The train had just pulled up and opened its doors, and I knew we had to get on it to escape the Suits, who would be down any second. I had to snap him out of his panic and get him to focus on me. So I kicked him hard in the shin.
“Oww! What did you do that for?” He looked at me, bewildered.
“I need you to listen to me, Bones.” I looked over to the open doors. “We have about ten seconds to get on that train. If we don’t, we’ll both be kidnapped by the Suits just like Stevie was.”
Then I pointed to the stairs leading up to the street. “They are going to come down those stairs any second now!”
Bones looked at me in astonishment. “How do you know that, Lump?”
I held out Stevie’s phone, which actually is what I should’ve done in the first place. “I figured it out, Bones. It works, the LightYear app! I can’t believe I’m saying this, but it really works!”
Bones looked down at the phone and then at me. The next thing I knew he was sprinting for the open subway door, and I wasn’t far behind him.
