CHAPTER 25
COLOR OF THE SUITS
As Bones and I went inside my house, I knew we had to go straight up to Command Central to the RACK. There were at least four cameras on the corner of East Glen Avenue and Oak Street where the helicopter and Suits had landed straight out of the sky. I already had fifty-plus episodes of BonesCam, but this one had the makings of something we never could have dreamed up in a billion years.
When we got to the bottom of the stairs, Bones stopped. He just gave me the look and a nod. We were racing to the top. No clock, just mano a mano straight up the big, front foyer stairs.
I positioned myself on the inside and Bones yelled, "Go!"
Bones tried to cut me off at the turn but I threw my hip into him and sent him flying down the other side of the T-shaped stairs. When I made it to the top, Bones was dusting himself off at the bottom.
I had my fists up in celebration when I heard her calling from down the hall.
"CJ?? Is that you?" I looked down, and Bones stood frozen like a giant popsicle. Gina yelled out again. "I need you and Hank to help me."
If I had thought quickly, I would've pulled out my phone to time him coming up the stairs. Still, I didn't need a clock to know that he obliterated the Runnup record. And when he reached the top, he kept going down the hallway at mach one.
