Annie chuckled and looked at me. “And for some reason, you were crawling in the grass. You two are really funny together, you know?”
Bones looked at me with a big smile, but all I could do was think, “Oh my God, she’s so cool.” But I knew she wasn’t even remotely interested—you could just tell with those sorts of things.
Annie continued her story. “The next thing I heard was a loud BANG! It sounded like a rock hit a car.”
Bones piped up. “That’s exactly what it sounded like to me, too!” He had no clue. Annie laughed at Bones, and I started wondering if maybe she liked him. Typical, he doesn’t even try and he gets the girl.
Annie was excited to finish telling us what she had seen. “And then the screen door slammed so I came down to see what was going on. I looked into the living room, and I could see Hank’s hair popping up from behind the armrest of the couch. I just figured you guys were in a game of manhunt or something like that.”
