CHAPTER 35
Columbo
Whatever or whoever Bones was running after had to be important. So I started running after him, too. He was heading toward the big globe just outside the Park when two black SUVs came flying around Columbus Circle and screeched to a halt on the side of Sixth Ave.
It was the Suits.
Bones had already made it across the first crosswalk and was heading toward the giant skyscraper on the other side of the Circle. I had no choice but to turn around, hoping the Suits wouldn’t notice me.
I dropped my hat low and walked by the uni-cyclists, who were cleaning up the mess Bones had left behind. I knew I had to figure out some way to connect with Bones, wherever he was going.
I cautiously looked back over my shoulder. The Suits were swarming around the ice cream stand and the now-unmanned hot dog cart. The ice cream guy started yelling at them to back off, but they just ignored him.
I pulled out Stevie’s phone and opened the Engineer app. The blue dot was still moving. Bones was chasing the lone engineer who was disguised as a hot dog vendor!
