It was like it happened in slow motion.
As the rock rolled, it bounced up with a wild hop that looked like it was definitely going to smack the side of the Hog. But then a miracle happened. The roll of the rock flattened and went underneath the Hog as it came to a stop. Then we heard the soft, sweet sound of the rock hitting the curb.
We all sprinted around the car to see what ended up being a perfect throw. My rock was resting right up against the curb. A two-point play and victory for me.
Stevie was shocked and started rewriting his formulas, trying to figure out how he hadn’t gotten it right. “It make no sense!”
I told him, “Sometimes things defy all logic, Ch-Ching!” But he wasn’t buying it because he walked away still scribbling in his giant notebook, mumbling something in Chinese.
