CHAPTER 15
BLUE LOOP
Before we went to bed that night, Bones and I went down to the kitchen to grab something to eat. Sometimes Bones would eat an entire box of Froot Loops. But tonight when I pulled out the box, he wasn't interested.
"No thanks, Lump. I'm not very hungry. But I'll still Blue Loop with ya if you want."
The game was pretty simple. We'd each pour a bowl of Froot Loops, and then one by one, we'd each pull out a blue Froot Loop, eat it, and say, "Loop." If one of us forgot to say "Loop," he'd have to eat another right away, which usually killed that guy's chances of winning. Whoever ran out of blue Loops first would have to run around outside the house . . . in his underwear.
Tonight would be a tough loss to swallow because it was pouring rain. We started the game with an even amount in both of our bowls. Usually there was an argument right out of the gate because we each wanted as many Loops as possible to increase the odds of the number of blue ones.
Tonight was no different, and Bones started in. "There's no way those bowls are even—you gotta pour me some more."
I looked through the clear plastic of his bowl and noticed it had some good blue at the bottom.
