Doc Lopez and the girl who had been driving the station wagon stared. They hadn’t understood anything Chief had said, but Yogi, Bones, and I had.

“What does he mean ‘go back in time’?” the girl asked. “I thought they could only do that in ‘Star Trek’.”

From behind Yogi’s truck, a voice shouted, “You’re right, Ant! They are from ‘Star Trek’!”

Two guys in suits rounded Yogi’s truck and walked toward us. One was a huge, barrel-chested man in a pinstripe suit, and the other was an older gentleman, much smaller, and with silver hair. He was also in a suit and seemed quite unruffled by the whole scene.

The big guy opened his suit jacket, revealing a gun stuffed in his waistband, which was already straining at the seams from his enormous gut. “We don’t want no trouble, just hand over that blue, lighted thing and we’ll be on our way.”

The short, older guy gave the big, giant one a look like he was forgetting to say something.

“Oh yeah,” the big guy said. “And we want that thing you got in your hands … Joey.”
