chapter 29
miracles every day
Gordo and Mazz rode away on their bikes, Quiet Cal riding behind, just as Yogi flew into the Yard in his truck. He jumped out and ran up to the shack after G, who had already leapt out of the bed of the truck and was barking at the door.
“Oh, good,” Yogi said, catching up to G and patting her on the head. “The boys are here. I was worried. Good girl!”
“How did the dog know we were here?” I said to Bones. Bones smiled.
“G isn’t a dog, Lump.” Yogi and G came around the back of the shack. G ran through the back door’s doggie entrance and barked at us like she was asking us how we were doing.
“We’re doing fine, G,” Bones replied. “How are you?” G responded with a bark right on cue. RUFFFF!!
Yogi stepped into the shed, out of breath. “I’m so sorry boys. I thought I’d be back before you both got here. Is everything OK?”
Bones nodded. “Well, actually, we took a few detours, but we made it fine.”
“Detours?” Yogi said. I jumped in. “We thought we’d get in some exercise. You know, with traveling from another time and all, I thought we should take in some of the sights.”
“Uh, yeah,” Bones echoed, playing along (surprisingly). “It was pretty cool to check out some of the houses and see what they look like now.”
