I was about to say, “That’s exactly right,” but I knew that these two guys were going back to the zoo at sunset, and anything I said would be useless. All I could think about was how mortified Estelle would be when she had to pick me up at the police station. That was when I looked up at the security cameras and noticed Bones standing in the store talking to the manager.

I couldn’t believe the idiot gave up his place in line!

Bones was laughing and talking to this woman while his orangutan arms were flying all over the place. The next thing I knew he started doing charades. He grabbed the top of his pants with both arms and hopped around the store. I’d love to have the video footage of what happened next.

As he was hopping around, Bones got entangled up in a “40% Off” sign in front of the big t-shirt display. He lost his balance and slammed into the table, sending the t-shirts flying everywhere. Of course whenever Bones crashed, he crashed big. He knocked the t-shirt table into a pants rack, which ended up knocking over the customer standing behind it.

The manager just stood there in awe of what had happened. Bones got up and scrambled around, trying to clean up his mess. She locked eyes with Bones and gave him the straight-arm point out of the store.

I figured that whatever slight chance I’d had of getting out of this mess was gone.
