Chief was about to open his mouth and start brainstorm- ing ideas when Joe stood up and clapped his hands.
“All right, Chief, first things first. Let’s order some pizza. We might as well have one last dinner together.”
Chief gritted his teeth. Of all the idiotic ideas. “Joe, that is the most—”
Wait a minute. A light bulb went off in Chief’s head. Chief stood up, still pointing at Joe, and said, “Joe,that is the most brilliant idea you’ve ever had.”
Joe’s mouth fell open. “It is?”
“It is?” Freddy echoed.
Chief’s mind raced. The idea was crazy, potentially stupid, probably both, but it was worth a try. It was the only chance they had. Chief pushed back his chair and started pacing the room. “Everyone, pick up two each of the prototypes.”
The Suits scrambled to follow orders. They all knew what was on the line—and they had less than ten minutes to figure it out. Chief glanced at the timer. It seemed to be going faster than ordinary time.
