“Let’s go, you buffoons, let me in. It’s hot out here.” The sun was beating down on me, and I was sweating just standing out there. I got the buzz.
When I walked inside the complex, Stevie was standing down the hallway outside of Bones’ door with a huge smile on his face.
He yelled, “CJ! It is me! Stevie Ching!”
As I walked toward him, all I could think was, this was the kid supposedly smart enough to skip high school and go straight to Harvard?
When I finally got into the apartment, Bones was at the small kitchen table staring at what looked like Stevie’s big notebook. He waved at me to come over like he was looking at a winning mega-millions lottery ticket. Stevie followed behind me and, just as I got a look at what Bones was holding, Stevie made a big announcement. “We make cure for Hank!”
I looked at Bones for help with translation.
Bones said, “Stevie’s phone was made at a secret lab in China. His Dad was one of ten engineers on a team that was working on an app for—guess what, Lump!”
“Counting powdered donuts?” I had no idea where he was going with this.
Bones didn’t let my response faze him one bit. “The app is called LightYear. And it’s for time travel!” He was practically jumping up and down he was so excited. “If we can figure out how to use the app, we could go forward in time to find the cure for cancer.”
