CHAPTER 41
anywhere we want to go
When I landed on the ground, it felt like I had jumped ten feet out of a tree. I looked over to my left and saw the old man standing there, looking around in awe. He locked eyes with me and said, “Wow, that’s some camera! What the heck just happened?”
I realized that we were standing outside of Central Park watching Bones with the uni-cyclists . . . for the second time. I definitely had gone far enough back in time that Bones hadn’t been kidnapped yet.
I looked at the old man and said, “I think you might’ve just gotten three hours of your life back.”
The old man glanced at his watch and shook his head as he walked away muttering, “My wife is never going to believe this one.”
I turned back to the unicycle scene. I watched as Bones lunged for his phone and sent all the boxes and pitchers of water crashing to the ground . . . it was even funnier the second time! Again Bones ran away to follow the flashing blue dot, and I knew this was going to be my only chance to save him. I had to get to the subway before he did.
I sprinted around Columbus Circle to get a head start on Bones, who would soon start chasing the hot dog guy in the opposite direction. My only chance was to stop him from going down into the subway so he wouldn’t get kidnapped by the Suits.
