Chief stopped the car and studied both sides of the road. It was very narrow, and the ditches were deep. Even if he tried doing a twenty-point turn, there was no way he was going to get this battleship turned around. He’d have to reverse all the way back to where they came in.

Chief shifted gears and glared at Joe. “I guess spy school didn’t teach you anything about directions, huh?”

“But we so lost them, didn’t we, Chief?” Chief grunted. No point in arguing about it now. He twisted around in his seat to look through the back win- dow, and his heart skipped a beat. The black, tinted car had appeared behind them again.

Chief looked at Joe. “No, Joe. Not so.”
