“So let me get this straight,” Joe said slowly. “We’re going forty years into the past to get the Ching from these two kids, but we don’t even know how we’re going to do it?”
Chief grabbed Joe’s arm and marched him up to his X, then he leaned into his ear and whispered, “Joe, what part of getting sucked into the floor don’t you understand? Keep your mouth shut and do as you’re told.”
“All right, then,” Dr. Yang said, her voice shaking. “You will enter the year 1978 to begin your mission to secure the Ching. Our intelligence indicates that the device does not contain enough power for a return transport . . .”
Dr. Yang faltered and looked down at the floor, blinking quickly and biting her lip.
“Continue, Dr. Yang,” the Boss said, tapping his foot on the floor.
Dr. Yang cleared her throat. “Yes, sir. Chief will transport with the Foozle to ensure power to the LightYear app. Once the Ching is secured, he will use the Foozle to power the Ching and app, programming the team’s return to the exact time and place of departure.”
Joe rolled his eyes. “Oh, is that all we have to do? Why didn’t you just say so?”
