CHAPTER 19
out and over
The great news was Dad’s plane hadn’t been delayed from Beijing and he was actually going to get home earlier than planned. I sat out in the driveway anxiously waiting for him. When his cab finally pulled up, I ran over to greet him. I wasn’t sure what the right age was to stop running to hug your dad hello, but I guess I wasn’t there yet.
When we went in the house together, Estelle was order- ing around waiters who were preparing a fancy, catered dinner for us that night. I could tell my dad wasn’t too happy about having people in the house.
He went right upstairs to his office because he said he had some work to finish up. Nobody worked harder than my dad. Well, maybe Bones’ mom, but that was it.
I followed him up to his office and sat in a seat at his desk, hoping he had forgotten about my Youtube post of Bones’ record run. No such luck.
“Hey, pal.” He sounded tired and was staring at his computer, checking some company report with lots of numbers on them. He didn’t look at me, just kind of glared at the numbers as he talked. “I don’t think we need to talk about why it’s so important that nobody knows you have access to any of my accounts, like the Ridgewood Access Channel.”
When it came to anything about security, my dad was all business. I figured I was going to get my privileges pulled for at least a month, so I decided not to make any excuses in hopes of getting my RACK ban reduced.
