"Okay, pal. Shut the system down right now, and don't try to access it again. There's been an unauthorized and unidentified breach. Please don't try it again until I let you know it's okay. You got that?"
I knew I couldn't give him any other answer. "Of course, Dad."
After I hung up, Bones looked at me confused. "Lump, what's going on?"
I wasn't exactly sure. "My dad said somebody hacked the system and all the recordings on the RACK from today and yesterday were erased."
"That sucks raw eggs." Bones had a way of summing things up succinctly. "Who do you think took Stevie away, Lump? They looked pretty professional to me." He also had a way of stating the painfully obvious.
"Ya think so, Bones? What tipped you off—was it the Black Hawk helicopter or the matching Maui Jim sunglasses the Suits were wearing?"
My rip went straight over his head—or more likely, he just let it sail like everything else.
