We needed to jump to the future and find a cure for cancer before it was too late.

Bones glanced up at me, then back at the phone. "Why don't we just roll back the app a few hours and start the day over?"

My mind raced as I tried to sift through the limitless options now that we knew we could actually time travel. Going back a few hours really didn't give us that much more time, especially since the app had said Bones only had ten months to live, but leave it to Bones to think that going back to the morning for a fresh start to the day would make everything better.

The train slowed and I peered out the subway window. I could see the platform of the next station. We were running out of time; we had to figure out what we were going to do, and fast, before the Suits caught up to us. The train lurched, then stopped abruptly. I looked out the window again. It was letting another train go by first. Good. That bought us another minute to think.

The first time I had used the app to time travel, it had been really easy, mostly because I thought it would never work. But it had, and now we were in a situation that was twenty notches higher on the weirdo-meter.

Bones, who was still scrolling through the phone, said, "Let's transport back four hours, Lump." His index finger tapped away at the screen, adjusting the numbers. "If we traveled back just a little bit—you know, back when we got on the train to head into the City from Ridgewood—we'd get a do-over."
