chapter 36
yogi was Back
Bones and I were walking around the back of the shack when a crash from inside made me jump out of my shoes. But it hadn’t affected Bones at all. He just kept walking like we were going to take a swim in the pool.
I grabbed his arm. “Bones, did you hear that? Something’s not right, somebody’s in there.”
He gave me that big, dopey smile. “So, let’s go see who it is, Lump!”
He put his back up against the side of the shack and slowly side-stepped to the back door. I knew he wasn’t really scared; he just liked acting like he was a spy.
He motioned for me to follow and whispered, “We’re going in stealth, Lump.” He pointed his index and middle fingers at his eyes, trying to mimic what I had done when we were looking for Stevie’s phone in the bushes of Annie Kratzer’s house, but the fluffoon that he was, he stumbled and poked himself in the eye.
“Ahhhh! That hurt!” So much for stealth. Bones bolted through the shack door and screamed, “Show me your feet!”
I followed him in. “Bones, it’s show me your hands, not feet.”
I scanned the room; it looked empty. Thank goodness. “I’d show you them but I’m stuck underneath this couch,” a muffled voice said.
