Meanwhile, back in the black car, Sal and Antone stared at the pumpkin-orange Caddy. It still wasn’t moving.
“Ant, did you hear that?” Sal said. “That sounded like a cow! Are we on a farm? I don’t like farms, Ant. And I don’t think that car is going to back up, either. Why are we even sticking our necks out for these guys? We got lots of business to do besides helping a couple of communists.”
“We are gonna help them, Sally,” Antone said. “Because whatever they gotta find is very important. Trust me, my friend, very important.”
“Whatever you say, Ant,” Sal said, even though he wasn’t buying any of it. “Two communists are looking for two kids who are searching for the cure for cancer, and we’re gonna help them? Just follow them around and make sure they don’t do anything suspicious?”
Antone nodded and tapped the side of his nose. “Very important, Sally. Very important.”
Back in the orange Caddy, Joe was still laughing at the car’s mooing horn. “They gonna help us find da boyz,” he said, imitating Sal.
