Chief came rushing down the stairs, Joe rolling down behind him, and together they ran to the train. A blinding flash went off and everyone in the video shielded their eyes. The screen froze.
“Joe,” said the Boss crisply, “the boys used the Ching to allude us again, going back to an unknown time and place. Is this mission over? Is our organization doomed?”
Joe looked around the room. The other Suits cringed in their chairs;—a team zapping was certain.
“No. It’s not over,” Joe said. “As I ran up—”
“You rolled, Joe,” Harvey said into his mic. “I watched you roll down the subway stairs.
Joe ignored him. “The flash went off and I got a picture of the two boys who were using the LightYear app. From the angle of the photo, I couldn’t see the time and place of their destination . . .” Joe looked around the room slowly, then smiled. “Except for the reflection on the window behind them.”
The Suits gasped and the Boss hit a button on the control panel, zooming to the back window of the subway car.
In the reflection was the date and time: “Friday, September 1, 1978 - Ridgewood, New Jersey.”
