“Did she like it?” G barked in approval and Yogi smiled. “She loved it.” Bones was eating this story up, but in my opinion, it was a giant bag full of cashews—completely nuts!
I looked around the yard and noticed that everything was different from how I remembered it. There were still huge piles of tires, old cars, trucks and trailers and bicycles, license plates and furniture, but they were the cleanest, neatest stacks of junk you’d ever seen. It looked nothing like a few nights ago when Bones and I had junked it up. Now everything looked brand-new.
“Here, I’ll take you on a tour,” Yogi said, motioning us forward with a sweep of his hand. “You’ll love it.”
“But what about all the ‘No Trespassing’ signs?” Bones asked. “Where’d they all go?”
“Trespassing?” Yogi smiled, his eyes twinkling with amusement. “People come from all over New Jersey to walk the yard and shop to their heart’s delight!”
RUFF!! G agreed. “But shouldn’t you boys be in school?” Yogi added.
“It’s Saturday!” Bones said. “And school doesn’t start until next week.”
I stared at Bones. Wow, he was really not picking up on this at all. He still had no idea how wrong things had gone with our transport. Then again, neither did I, but at least I had a clue.
