Chapter 11
we need to talk
Welcome, boys!” Yogi said, bear-shaking each of the officer’s hands, as if they were joining him for dinner. “It’s great to see you all!”
He pointed over at the crushed cruiser next to us, then down at the old man, who was still lying on the ground with his hands tied behind his back. “Everything is in the briefcase. Can you make sure my money gets back into my bank?”
A red police car whose license plate said “1” pulled into the parking lot, and a man with graying hair stepped out. Immediately all the officers straightened up. This guy had to be their boss, the Sheriff.
The man strode over to our huddle, looked at me and Bones, down at the old man, then at the two officers to his left and said, “Read him his rights.”
Then he turned to Officer Reilly and said sternly, “Stay right here, Officer Reilly. I’ve got questions for you.”
Yogi was standing over the old man, rocking on his feet and beaming. “G brought me the rope and I put a double-Yogi fly knot on him. No chance of escape with that sucker.”
