As I was running up to the Sixth Avenue stoplight, I noticed Bones and his long legs were moving at warp speed around the Circle.

I thought I had given myself a good head start, but I had forgotten how much faster Bones was than me. By the time I got to the subway entrance at West Fifty-Eighth, Bones had already reached the station and was headed down the stairs. And the Suits were coming . . . again.

As I ran down the subway stairs, I heard the rumble of a train approaching. I was almost to the bottom when I saw Bones looking around. I was about to yell at him to run out of there when I got distracted by the hot dog vendor, who had tipped his cap at me as he passed going up the escalator.

When I got to the bottom of the stairs, Bones was all fired up. "How did you get here so fast, Lump?! That was him! The hot dog guy. He's the last engineer, and I lost him. We have to find him!"
