I looked at Bones, waiting for him to start laughing hysterically. When he didn’t, I turned to Stevie to see if he would crack, but both of them stood there looking at me like they were serious. So I burst out laughing. Still, they both just kept looking at me.
Stevie showed me his phone. I had never seen one like it. “This special phone. Only make ten like it.” Apparently, Stevie’s phone was one of ten prototypes made for the LightYear app.
I thought it was weird that only ten phones had been made for the app. Stevie held up the phone to show it to me, and then he somehow started scrolling through its contents without even touching the screen. “Hey, how are you moving that?” I asked.
Stevie looked at me, and the scrolling stopped. He said, “With eye.”
This was really getting ridiculous. “Come on!” I said. “You’re telling me you can scroll on this phone with your eyes? That’s just dumb!” But then I thought it really wasn’t dumb—it was actually pretty ingenious if it was true. But how could it be? Still, I watched as Stevie opened the cool-looking LightYear icon without ever touching the phone.
I started laughing. “So what happens next? You tap on it and zip around the universe a few times?”
Again they both just stared at me.
Finally, Stevie explained how it all came to be.
