I jumped and banged my elbow into the wall. It sounded like the voice was coming from the floor. Bones flipped on the lamp next to the couch, and the couch was raised up off its feet. Someone was definitely underneath it.

Bones walked over to it. “Lump, I think there’s someone under the couch. That was my hiding place!”

“Well then, you could’ve warned me that it’s not very comfortable,” the voice retorted.

“Let’s go, Bones,” I said, tugging at his arm. I’d had enough of home burglaries for one day.

I turned to walk out the back door, but it was blocked. There he was: the tallest Suit from the subway station. He wasn’t wearing a jacket or tie and looked like he had just lost a game of LOOP!

“Joe, come out from under the couch,” he said in a calm, deep voice. “Boys, sit down, we’re going to need the Ching.”

“Chief,” the voice under the couch yelled. “Is that who I think it is? The boys with the LightYear app?”

He didn’t wait for an answer. “Talk about dumb luck!”

So I guess the tall guy’s name was Chief, or maybe that was just a nickname. Either way, he was still blocking the door, and he didn’t seem amused by the guy under the couch.
