Chapter 14
let’s go see
I reached my hand back to grab my seat belt while Bones dug around in the bench seat looking for his, but we both came up empty. Yogi was watching us with his eyebrows raised. “What are you looking for boys?”
“Pardon,” Bones said (because who else would say “pardon”), “but does your truck have seat belts?”
“Oh no, I took them out. They wouldn’t fit around me.” Yogi laughed and thumped his stomach with his hand. G barked from the bed of the truck through the open back window.
“I know, G,” Yogi said with an exaggerated sigh and a wink at us. “I really am trying to lose some weight.”
Bones patted G’s head, which was sticking through the cab’s window. “Do you really think she understands what you’re saying?”
“Of course,” Yogi said, his eyes wide, as if it were strange for Bones to even ask. “She understands everything.”
